Heatless Curls
I find myself feeling less anxious about my move in the more I think about writing it out so I'm just going to be describing some of the things I do to take care of myself. Of course I haven't done most of these all summer but seriously these were done on time, every time, during the school year. Starting off with my hair routine!!
I so so miss doing my hair every morning, taking it out and brushing it, styling, then going out to class. All summer I've been in a braided bun under a hairnet. It's been hot and so so dry, which my hair was JUST getting used to how humid it was in Oregon :( here my hair is dry, breaks, and just feels completely dead. I haven't even used heat on it this summer and it's just so dead!!
My hair is a very annoying mix of 2b/2a on the top layers, but at the base of my neck and mid layers is all 2c/3a. This has never changed and my hair is so thick, but I'd rather it just be all curly!! Why won't it just all curl!! My little brother has perfectly curly hair all around >:( not fairr
And while this is a heatless curls routine, this is also pretty similar for when I'm just going to bed, no heatless curls. Just don't do the buns and don't tie the scarf as tightly, also make sure the hair gets much wetter than when you do it with the buns.
This is the hair routine I used to get heatless curls and soft soft hair :)
Before bed I:
- Part Hair into four sections (Two top layer, two bottom layer)
- Comb it all out with a large wide tooth comb then brush the rest (just so I'm not breaking hair up underneath)
- Spray hair with rosemary water until damp, brush with boar bristle brush
- Oil (oil from Currents page) the ends and scalp + let it sit for a little. Make sure you get the actual part in between hair sections
- Brush through again with regular brush, then boar bristle
- Use Curl Smith Frizz rescue finishing serum and rub through hair evenly, brush one more time with boar bristle
- Let everything dry- to the touch, and powder lightly with Sticky Dates
- Twist each section of hair into a tight bun, use hairtie or scrunchie to tighten to head. Once they're all up, wrap them in silk bandana or large scarf tightly to your head/around the buns so they don't move around during the night.
Then in the morning I:
- Take out in the morning and comb out! Use Very light powdering on the crown and ends of hair while you brush
- Use finishing spray and there you go!
